ISCA Japan meeting/lunch with Prof M Ota & Prof N Kobayashi (Shinshu University, Japan)

Molecular & Cellular Therapeutics (MCT) in collaboration with the School of Postgraduate Studies is pleased to invite you to a meeting/lunch with Professors Masao Ota and Nobumitsu Kobayashi (Shinshu University School of Medicine) on Tuesday 30th June, 12pm in the Sir Thomas Myles room (123 SSG). The visit is funded under the auspices of ISCA Japan programme and funded by SFI.

During the meeting Professors Masao Ota and Nobumitsu Kobayashi  will  give a brief presentation on their research and introduce Shinshu University. The talk will be followed by an informal lunch and a round-table discussion on collaboration possibilities between Shinshu University and research groups in RCSI.

Prof Masao Ota’s research interests are focused on immunogenetic studies and to identify genetic predictors of disease, in particular autoimmune diseases (autoimmune hepatitis, autoimmune pancreatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, and Bechet’s disease). Recently, his work has contributed to the developed of HLA genotyping using next-generation sequencing approaches. He has published over 240 peer-reviewed publications in research journals.

Dr Nobumitsu Kobayashi  is Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Shinsu University, Japan. His research interests are in the area of genetic mapping of respiratory diseases – particularly the identification of genetic predictors of acute and chronic mountain sickness.  His clinical practice involves the examination and treatment of respiratory conditions, including acute mountain sickness.
