RCSI’s Communications Department is responsible for developing and managing the College’s communications strategy. This involves internal and external communications, media relations, promoting RCSI as a leading healthcare education institution and research institute both nationally and internationally to key audiences, while enhancing its reputation and managing the RCSI brand.
Promoting RCSI in the media, the Communications Department is the central point for all College communications with the media, handling queries from national, regional and international press. It issues press releases and briefs journalists on matters relating to RCSI and identifies opportunities for showcasing the College’s research and teaching activities, as well as events, achievements in the media.
The Communications Department is responsible for the overall management of the RCSI website and it publishes news items and events on the website. The department is also responsible for the overall management of the staff portal. Equally, the department manages the content of the College’s official social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube.
The department is responsible for a range of publications including the design, compilation and editing of the annual report, Pulse – the staff newsletter, Surgical Bulletin to Fellows & Members and Surgical Scope – a biannual publication to Fellows & Members of RCSI.
In addition to this strategic work, the Communications Department manages requests for filming, broadcasting and photocalls on campus, compiles and acts as the central source for all photography requirements. It oversees the corporate identity and logo usage, and provides a support and advisory service for staff.
