In 2025, RCSI will once again run Transition Year Programmes. Students will select their chosen Programme – Medicine, Pharmacy/Advanced Therapeutic Technologies, or Physiotherapy and experience what it is like to train and work in their chosen professions.
All sections of the programmes are carried out by leading professionals in their respective areas with a wide variety of topics – including general practice, heart surgery, pathology, paediatrics, forensic medicine, transplants, pharmacy, therapeutic technologies, science, dentistry, and physiotherapy being covered during the programme. Real life surgeries and Q&A with students will complete an exciting and informative week. For some, it will be the beginning of their journey to training and working as a healthcare professional and for all who take part, we hope that it will be a highlight of their Transition Year experience.

All programmes will be streamed online, and we are delighted to announce that staff have the opportunity to nominate a student for the in-person TYMiniMed programme. All other programmes MiniPharm, MiniFutureScientist, MiniPhysio will be delivered online only.
We will have limited in-person TY MiniMed places and only students who are entering Transition Year in September 2024 are eligible to take part. Our TY Programmes are incredibly popular so it will not be possible to meet demand for places for all staff registrations. Priority is given to children of staff members but is not guaranteed.

For those students unable to attend the in-person TY MiniMed programme in RCSI we are offering them the possibility to view the programme online, live streamed, from the Desmond Auditorium.
If your student’s school registers for the online programme, your nominated student has the option of participating with the online programmes in a classroom setting at their school. If they wish to participate themselves with their own webinar link, to view at home, their parent will need to register them.
