Awarded at Research Day 2018 for Researchers active in Commercialisation and Industry Engagement

The 2017 RCSI Innovation Awards were presented by Professor Cathal Kelly, CEO/Registrar and Dr Seamus Browne at Research Day 2018, which was held on Wednesday 7th March. The awards recognise the outstanding contribution of RCSI researchers and clinicians to research commercialisation and industry engagement activity at RCSI. Congratulations to all the awardees.

Invention Disclosure Award Winners:
The invention disclosure awards recognise the role of non-PI inventors in the submission of invention disclosures; this years awardees were: Reece Kenny(Department of Pharmaceutical & Medicinal Chemistry) Dr Irene Mencia Castano (Department of Anatomy) and Helen Coughlan (Department of Psychiatry) RCSI

Industry Engagement Award

This award recognises the researcher who was most successful in obtaining research funding from industry in 2017 and this year was presented to Prof. Andreas Heise (Associate Professor of Chemistry).

Clinician Award for Industry Engagement and Research Commercialisation

This award recognises the clinically qualified researcher most successful in research commercialisation and industry engagement and this year was presented to presented Prof. James O’Donnell (Director of the Irish Centre for Vascular Biology) accepted on his behalf by Noelle Costelloe.

Commercialisation Award

This award recognises the researcher whose research has been licensed or optioned to a company for the highest value and this year was presented to Prof. Leonie Young (Associate Professor, Department of Surgery).
