Innovation Supports at the Office of Research and Innovation
Support For Researchers
1. Identification of commercially relevant research
We are available to meet to discuss the development of projects with commercial potential and can help validate a commercial need for a technology. The first formal step in the process is to submit an invention disclosure form (IDF)
2. Funding for development
The ORI can help in identifying suitable funding mechanisms and in applying for grant funding to develop technology to a more commercially ready state
3. IP protection
The ORI is responsible for reviewing invention disclosures and filing patents on RCSI IP through our patent attorneys. We can also facilitate NDAs, MTAs and IP agreements that may be required to protect RCSI IP.
4. Commercialisation
Commercialisation or research can take the form of licensing to an existing company, the creation of a new spin out or co-development with industry. The ORI work with RCSI researchers to identify partners and commercialise technologies.
5. Industry engagement
The office can help approaching industry to seek feedback on the market need or application of a technology. We can also support collaborative and contract research projects with industry.
