This course is designed to give participants a solid understanding of the key principles of project management from inception to delivery. Participation in the course will give staff a common project management language / vocabulary as well as a common way of thinking about and approaching any projects they are involved in.
At the end of the course attendees will understand:
The structure and stages of a project
What exactly the project manager is required to do i.e. the roles and responsibilities of the project manager
How project plans are prepared and implemented
How to prioritise tasks and manage timelines
The importance of keeping the project on track through strong risk and issue management
How to review and monitor progress within timescales and budgets
How to identify the needs of sponsors and stakeholders effectively
How to correctly close down a project at completion
On completion of the course participants will be given a Project Management Toolkit with suggested documents and templates to help them apply what they have learned.
Target Audience: Any staff interested in learning practical skills to successfully manage and participate in a project.
