DIVERCSITY nominated for Smedia & SPA Awards

Under the editorial guidance of Nikita Rane and Caitrin O’Leary,  RCSI’s student led newspaper Divercsity has been nominated for several awards in the forthcoming SMEDIA & SPA Awards.

Nominations include Best Newspaper of the Year, Best Small College Publication of the Year and best Layout of the Year (Newspaper). For individual categories Caitrín O’Leary has been nominated for the EU commission category, Cathal Delaney and Cyrille Payne have been nominated for Best Colour Writer(s) for satire and humour, Su Kyi Ng and Jin Ji Lim have been nominated to Best Features Art and Pop culture, Cormac Duff has been nominated for Best Film Script and Nikita Rane nominated for Editor of the Year.
Divercsity has also been nominated for the Student Publication Association (SPA) Awards for Best Newcomer Publication.
Nikita Rane commented, ‘We are extremely delighted about the nominations! We did not expect to receive so many on our first time entering and this being our second year of publication’.
She went on to say, ‘Due to category limitations for these awards, we couldn’t showcase a full representation of the spectrum of content we publish. However those nominated are an encouraging and a reassuring sign to the quality writing and editing done by the all columnists and the editors. Everyone on the committee puts in a lot of hard work and passion into the paper, so it is nice to be recognised on a national level. I am very happy for those who have been nominated’.
Also commenting on the nominations, Corriena Brien, Student Services Manager said ‘We are delighted to see Divercsity nominated for these awards. It is well deserved. For many years we have been encouraging students to set up a newspaper in RCSI. When Nikita & Caitrin approached us to start DIVERCSITY, we knew it was going to be something special and supported it wholeheartedly.   Nikita & Caitrin have been exemplary in their roles and have achieved so much in a very short space of time. We wish them both and indeed all the nominees the very best of luck’.
