RCSI team travel to London for Wellcome Image Awards

The image was created by Eric Clarke, Lecturer in Health Informatics, Foundation Year Medicine and Physiotherapy, RCSI; Professor Richard Arnett, Director of Psychometrics, Quality Enhancement Office, RCSI; and Jane Burns, Research Officer, School of Nursing and Midwifery, RCSI. The image was originally generated for a front cover illustration for RCSI’s annual Research Day programme in 2016.

An image which illustrates a fascinating visualisation of Twitter conversations about breast cancer, created by a team at RCSI (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland), has been unveiled as a winner of the Wellcome Image Awards 2017. The RCSI image is the only Irish winner at these prestigious international science images awards and 1 of 22 winners of the 2017 Awards.

The research team travelled to London for the Awards that were held on March 15th , 2017. “We are very grateful for the support and encouragement we have received from our RCSI colleagues” said Jane Burns.

The images are currently displayed in the windows of Wellcome’s HQ in London, and are available the Wellcome Image Awards website
