The RCSI Estate & Support Services Team reigned victorious once again last night, taking home the award for ‘Excellence in the Procurement of Facilities Management’ at the The National Procurement Awards 2017.
The team were finalists in two categories at this year’s event – which took place at the Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin –’Excellence in the Procurement of Facilities Management’ and ‘Best Procurement External Collaboration Project of the Year’, and they beat off tough competition from the likes of Pfizer, Aramark, A&L Goodbody and Microsoft to win the ‘Excellence in the Procurement of Facilities Management’ award.
The award was based upon the bundling of soft services in the College. The Estate & Support Services team lead by Mr Bryan Sheils negotiated a new cleaning and security contract, worth circa €9m over the term of the contract, with our now incumbent partner APLEONA in late 2016. This process demonstrated the best-in-class for innovation, sustainably and value for money and the process was commended for its business focus and adoption of lean process and technologies.
The panel of judges were particular impressed with the commitment to predefined KPIs and the risk and reward elements negotiated at tender stage. The judges were also impressed with the Estates Team foresight in negotiating an agreed contract fee almost 12 months in advance of the population of the No. 26 York Street and 18 months for ERC II in Beaumont, commenting, “there is no doubt this has provide RCSI with great value for money”.
Commenting on the win, Ken Gormley, Head of Estate & Support Services said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the team, and particular Bryan Sheils and Liz McNicholl supported by Colm Murray in relation to No. 26 York Street. A real team effort again in the Estates Department and a follow on from our double win at the Facilities Management Awards back in March of this year.”
