The Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) with HR’s Staff Learning and Development department have launched a new 6 part Innovation Training Series. This training series is targeted at RCSI principal investigators, post-docs and Ph.D students with an interest in entrepreneurship, research commercialisation and industry collaboration. The third instalment entitled ‘Performing market research for an invention will be delivered by Derek John and will cover the following topics

  • Understand the resources available for market research
  • Understand the importance of Clinician/KOL/End user feedback
  • Identify the most appropriate market segment for their technology and any barriers to entry
  • Identify the competitor products and articulate a value proposition
  • Quantify the total addressable market
  • Identify potential partners/licensees
  • Understand how validated Market Research can support invention disclosures and strengthen applications for commercialisation funding such as the SFI TIDA and the EI Commercialisation Fund.
