Mary Robinson receives Emily Winifred Dickson award

Mary Robinson, President of the Mary Robinson Foundation - Climate Justice, former President of Ireland and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, was presented with the Emily Winifred Dickson award at a special ceremony at RCSI. The award was established in honour of Emily Winifred Dickson (FRCSI) who broke boundaries when she became the first female Fellow of RCSI in 1893, which made her the first female Fellow of any of the surgical royal colleges in Britain and Ireland. Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Hannah McGee said: “Emily Dickson broke boundaries with her conviction and courage in an era of challenges that may seem very different to today. But in every era we need people to push whatever the boundaries are – and to challenge the status quo.” Pictured: Mary Robinson, Mr Kenneth Mealy (RCSI President) and Imogen Stuart RHA.
