Title: Postdoctoral Researcher

Tenure: Specified purpose up to 12 months, possibility of  extension.
Location: St Stephen’s Green, Dublin
Reporting to: Dr Roger Preston
Salary:  Dependent upon candidate experience.
Proposed Start Date:  As soon as possible
 
About the role 
The study seeks to investigate the role of anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory pathways in mitigating paediatric sickle cell disease vasculopathy. This National Children’s Research Centre-funded project is based in Dr Roger Preston’s laboratory in the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences in collaboration with clinical investigators based at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Dublin.
Specifically, the duties of the post are:
  • Work under the direction of the PI to fulfil project goals
  • Work this and assist junior members of lab staff to complete project objectives.
  • Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety
  • Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required from time to time
  • Representing the best interests of the Department/College at all times.
Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Genetics/Immunology or related biological subject.
 
Knowledge & Experience – (Essential):
  • The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, creative and highly competent, as demonstrated by first author publications in recognised scientific journals.
  • Experience in the area of haemostasis, vascular biology or immunology would be advantageous.
