Employers are legally obliged to appoint an employee to consult with management on safety issues at work. Safety Representatives must receive appropriate training to carry out the role. This course is part eLearning and part classroom sessions. Both are designed to outline the function of the Safety Representative, and provide a comprehensive foundation in health and safety as per the Health and Safety Authority Guidelines.
Aim of the Course
This course is designed to provide the participants with the knowledge & skills to fulfil their role as a safety representative.
Course Objectives
The learning outcomes of the course is to describe the role of the Safety Representative and to familiarise participants with employers, employees and Safety Representative’s responsibilities under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act (SHWWA), 2005 and other applicable legislation. Other course objectives include:
Understand the roles and duties of the Safety Rep as set out in the SHWWA, 2005.
Explain hazard identification and risk assessment,
Understand how to investigate report and prevent workplace accidents.
