Speakers’ Bio:
Ken Ward, PhD is Professor and Director of the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Memphis School of Public Health. He also serves as Adjunct Professor of Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and Intervention Director of the Syrian Center for Tobacco Studies. Dr. Ward trained as a clinical health psychologist and is a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist. He is interested in community-, healthcare system-, and population-level approaches to reducing tobacco use, especially in underserved populations and developing country settings. Dr. Ward’s research has been funded by more than 35 grants from the U.S. National Institutes of Health and other funders. He is a Senior Editor of the journal Addiction and a fellow of the American Academy of Health Behavior and the Society of Behavioral Medicine. At The University of Memphis, Dr. Ward is the recipient of the Faudree Professorship and the Willard R. Sparks Eminent Faculty Award. In 2016, he is a Fulbright Scholar at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
