3U N-Step is a project concerned with research into the teaching and learning of STEM subjects at third level, (for details see http://www.3upartnership.ie/education/3u-n-step). Strand 1 of this project has been running for the last year and has funded eight research studies in this area.
We are pleased to invite you to the 3U N-Step Conference at which successful applicants of 3U N-Step scheme will present a final report on their research. The conference will be addressed by two plenary speakers – Dr Matthew Inglis of the University of Loughborough and Professor Mark Brown of DCU. Dr Inglis will report on an eye-movement study designed to understand and improve how undergraduate students read mathematical proofs.
In addition, representatives of Strand 2 of the 3U N-Step project, which focuses on transitions, have been invited and will present “Transitions in STEM – Great expectations on hard times?”.
