Dear Colleagues
In January 2012 the Medicine and Health Sciences Board established the Awards and Qualification Committee (A&QC). The A&QC has delegated authority from MHSB to evaluate and consider all programmes, which fall under the National Framework of Qualifications for approval or rejection. The A&QC replaces the Programme Validation & Accreditation Committee. The Terms of Reference of the A&QC include:
- To oversee the end-to-end process for RCSI programme accreditation, from application through to approval by RCSI MHSB and the National University of Ireland (NUI) Senate, and final communication with programme proposer(s);
- To oversee a rolling cycle of Programmatic Reviews of all RCSI programmes which offer qualifications or awards on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and which fall under the governance of the MHSB;
- To set standards for programme accreditation in accordance with best practice and in collaboration with NUI, the RCSI Quality Enhancement Office (QEO) and other relevant stakeholders.
The next meeting of the A&QC is Tuesday 28th May. The deadline submission date for any documentation for review by the committee at this meeting is 14th May. All information in relation to Awards and Qualification Committee can be found on the Staff Portal by clicking here
