The RCSI Breakers is a new lunchtime running group for RCSI staff members who are interested in taking part in the Breast Cancer Ireland Great Pink Run on 30th August 2014. To support staff with their fitness goals in preparing for the Great Pink Run, RCSI has organised a free lunchtime training programme with a certified fitness instructor and running coach.
Whether you only run for the bus or run regularly, this programme will suit you!
What’s involved and for how long?
- The programme is 17 weeks in total but there are different start dates set for different running levels.
- You will need to submit your current running ability and we will let you know at what stage of the programme you should begin.
- Once you sign up, you will receive a weekly email from your start date of training, including your weekly running programme, as well as advice and tips on running
- Each week participants run 3 times per week, once of which will be a supervised run at lunchtimes with a certified fitness instructor and running coach
- During the programme a Dietician will deliver a Nutrition seminar
- During the programme, the School of Physiotherapy will deliver a talk on ‘Injury Prevention During Training’
- The School of Physiotherapy will also run a Q&A blog for people with running related queries
- The first training session will take place on Tuesday 13th May and the last session on Tuesday 26th August
- This programme is free for all RCSI staff and is open to both men and women.
How do I sign up?
To register for the programme and to find out your start date just email your name to RCSI@spectrumhealth.ie and include your current running ability from the following options:
- I am a total beginner
- I can run for 10 minutes
- I can run for 20 minutes
- I can run 5K in 30 minutes
Spaces on the programme are limited and registration is on a first come first served basis
