Dear Colleagues,
Due to the essential requirement to replace the main electricity distribution board in 123 St Stephen’s Green campus, the College will close from Friday the 29th July and will be closed for the duration of the bank holiday weekend, reopening on Tuesday 2nd August at 7am. There will be no access to the College during this time and only designated essential staff will be permitted to enter the building during these hours.
All staff, researchers and students will need to vacate the 123 building by 6.30pm on Friday 29th July . Estate and Support Services staff, with the assistance of Porters and Security staff, will sweep the building and aid in vacating the building.
In advance of the building closure all staff in 123 SSG and in Block B Ardilaun are requested to shut down their PCs to prevent any loss of any work. IT may need to shut down network access serving 123 and Block B staff. Staff in other SSG locations may see a brief network disconnect during this time. In addition all staff in 123 SSG are requested to unplug all electrical items – phone chargers, desk fans etc before leaving on Friday the 29th August.
Estates are working closely with all Lab Managers to minimise the impact that this power shut down will have on the labs and agreed action plans have and are being implemented. Back-up generators will be on site to support essential services, as determined in discussions with Lab Managers. All PI’s and research staff are asked to liaise with the lab managers to ensure that all essential equipment and samples are reviewed and prioritised accordingly. Estates will continue to work with the lab managers to ensure that the impact of this shut down has minimal impact on research work.
All other buildings will remain open as per normal summer opening hours.
To enable the works the Gym, basketball, squash court and the entire basement area will be closed from Wednesday 28th at 10pm until Tuesday 2nd August at 7am.
