The Faculty of Dentistry RCSI is delighted to welcome Professor Jeff Dean as a Fulbright Scholar to the College for a three-month period. The Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries, and it is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government.
Dr. Jeffrey Dean is the Ralph E. McDonald Professor of Pediatric Dentistry and a Professor of Orthodontics at the Indiana University School of Dentistry and Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. He has served the University in various capacities including department chair, Executive Associate Dean, and as Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to the IUPUI Chancellor’s Office. He is also the CEO of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and served as Editor of the recently released 50th anniversary, 10th edition of the comprehensive textbook on pediatric dentistry titled, McDonald and Avery’s Dentistry for the Child and Adolescent.
During his time with the Faculty of Dentistry Professor Dean will be dividing his time between:
- Assisting with Curriculum Development for the RCSI-HMC Specialty Paediatric Dentistry Program in Qatar
- Evaluating the MFD and FFD examinations currently provided by the Faculty
- Interacting with Staff and Students in the three Dental Schools in Ireland
- Providing a number of lectures in the RCSI Postgraduate Lecture Series that are delivered in the College and streamed internationally
In addition Professor Dean will deliver the prestigious Edward Leo Sheridan Lecture at the Annual Scientific meeting of the Faculty of Dentistry that will take place on the 28th and 29th of October 2016.
We are delighted that Jeff will be with us over the next three months and I know you will join us in the Faculty in extending a warm welcome to him.
