On day one, participants attended a full day of lectures about Anatomy, Critical Care, Communications and Surgical Pathology. During the second day, candidates sat two different mock OSCE examinations of nine stations each and then received personalised feedback about their performance in each of the stations.

The course is led by Professor Peter Gillen, Senior MRCS Examiner and Dean of Undergraduate Studies in RCSI Drogheda. A total of 11 MRCS Examiners, both from Ireland and from overseas, took part in the different sessions. Candidates who attend the course can significantly enhance exam outcomes, with 78% of past candidates successfully completing the MRCS Part B (OSCE) examination afterwards.

The MRCS Part B (OSCE) Exam preparation course is held three times a year in Ireland and annually in Bahrain and Penang (Malaysia) approximately one month before the exam. The next sitting of this course will take place in Penang on the 26th and 27th of November 2016.
