Today, staff at the RCSI Department of Psychology will welcome Professor Ken Ward, Educator in Residence and Fulbright Scholar to the College for a three month period.
Professor Ward, PhD, is Professor and Director of the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Memphis School of Public Health. He also serves as Adjunct Professor of Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and Intervention Director of the Syrian Center for Tobacco Studies. Professor Ward trained as a clinical health psychologist and is a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist. During his time in RCSI Professor Ward will focus on the following activities:
1. The development of educational materials for a student-led intervention programme for health promotion and behaviour change in hospital settings.
2. The evaluation of the programme in randomised trial format
His expertise in addiction, especially smoking, and behavioural trials will be of particular value to RCSI in the development of these educational and research initiatives.
