Dated - January 20, 2016
Dear Colleagues,
Following on from previous communications in relation to the recently enforced Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015, the deadline for the first return to the online register of lobbyists is coming up. Therefore may I ask that you let us know of all of your interactions you may have had with public representatives and bodies in the course of your work for RCSI (between 1st September to the 31st December 2015) beforeThursday 28th January.
In order to file a return you must complete the form on the RCSI Staff Portal for each separate interaction with a publicly elected individual or public body.
RCSI is listed on the register of lobbyists as a health sciences institution which engages with public representatives and bodies on education and health issues, we must conduct all lobbying activity, and other communications with publicly elected officials or bodies, in a clear, transparent and fully accountable manner.
Please find, attached, a summarised document of how this legislation impacts how we communicate with designated public officials on the initiation or development of any public policy or programme, the preparation or amendment to any law and the award of any grant, loan or other financial support, or of any licence or other authorisation involving public funds. These officials include Ministers, TDs, Members of the Seanad, MEPs, Special Advisers to Ministers and Ministers of State, local authorities, special advisors, senior civil and public servants. This also includes a number of other bodies, for example, SFI and the HSE (a full list of public service bodies is also attached)
If you would like further information please visit the Lobbying section on the Staff Portal or contact myself or Robert Magee at lobbying@rcsi.ie and we will be happy to clarify any queries you may have.
Kindest Regards,
Louise Loughran
Associate Director, Head of Communications
