Dated - September 16, 2013
Dear Colleague,
We are pleased to announce that the 2014 Annual RCSI Research Day will take place on Thursday 20th March, 2014 consisting of oral and poster presentations and awards. The speaker for the Annual John J Ryan Distinguished Guest Lecture will be confirmed shortly.
Research Day is a forum for the presentation of investigators’ most recent work, reflecting the current state of research in RCSI. As in previous years the emphasis will be on presentations by young Investigators early in their career, Post-doctoral Fellows, Post-graduate and Undergraduate Scholars and Academic Staff, with competition for a number of prizes in best oral and poster presentations. In addition, acknowledging the centrality of a robust research and development approach to all our educational programmes, the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences will award a poster prize for the best abstract and project in the broad category of Health Professions Education.
Please submit all abstracts by email using the abstract submission template which is attached and also available for downloading from the College Intranet at: /research/research-day-2013
Please pay close attention to the submission guidelines listed in the template. Abstracts must contain the Supervisors original signatures – Electronic Signatures Are Not Permitted (ie page 3 of the abstract template should be signed by the PI or supervisor and then a scanned copy of this page submitted with the abstract. Do not send scanned copies of the actual abstract itself – only scan page three).
(If you cannot access the abstract template contact ResDay2014@rcsi.ie. Due to the volume of correspondence during this time abstracts which do not conform to the style laid out in the template may be rejected).
Abstracts will be evaluated and those with the highest scores will be assigned to the appropriate competition session. The deadline for submission of abstracts by e-mail attachment only to (ResDay2014@rcsi.ie) is 12pm Friday 13th December, 2013.
Intellectual Property Issues: Please note that the responsibility for protecting commercially valuable information lies with each individual researcher and submission of an abstract should be made only after due care and caution has been exercised with respect to the protection of potentially valuable intellectual property and consistency with existing funding agreements. If there are any doubts as to what should be omitted/included in abstracts please contact the Technology Transfer Office.
We would be grateful if you could bring this notice to the attention of any relevant personnel in your Department.
Everyone is welcome. We hope that you will be able to join us for a day of great research!
Kind regards,
The Research Office
