RCSI Gym collected a National Quality Standard Award (NQSA) at the recent Ireland Active Awards Ceremony held in Druids Glen. The National Quality Standard Awards are highly sought after and respected accolades in the leisure and fitness industry. The awards are made to facilities that meet the operational standards for leisure and fitness across 250 quality-based criteria. The standard is designed to encourage continuous improvement within the sector and recognises facilities for their standards in the areas of safety, hygiene, customer service and human resources.
The RCSI audit took place in September of this year and the gym was subsequently awarded the level of ‘Outstanding’ in the Fitness category. The gym is part of a range of services delivered by the Student Services Office, and commenting on the award, Corriena Brien, Student Services Manager said ‘We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of the audit and especially the ‘Outstanding’ grading. We opened the doors of the new college gym just over 1 year ago so to achieve this result after such a short period is really something for the whole college to be proud of. She highlighted the exemplary work and dedication of Dave Harris, Gym Manager who led the audit and also the gym team including Chloe Leddy, John Kelly, Neil Condon, Alice Murphy, David Murphy and Ian Hunter for all their hard work and commitment in making the goal a reality.
The NQSA are the only industry specific award for the leisure, health and fitness sector in Ireland.
