RCSI was delighted to host Prof. Maura Daly Iversen, Associate Dean, Clinical Education, Rehabilitation and New Initiatives, Bouvé College of Health Sciences, Northeastern University, Boston recently. Bouvé College of Health Sciences is home to three preeminent schools: Health Professions, which includes Physiotherapy and Physician Associate programmes, Nursing, and Pharmacy. These schools are united across disciplines preparing the next generation of highly skilled, versatile, and enterprising health care leaders, while advancing high-impact research to address the world’s challenging issues.
During the visit, development of a co-operation in education between Bouvé and RCSI, in areas such as simulation and interprofessional education, with the goal of facilitating quality teaching was explored, along with the potential for development of research collaborations.
The development of this relationship arose from Dr Helen French’s (School of Physiotherapy) time in Boston on a Fulbright Scholar progamme in 2018. This visit will be followed up by a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
Prof. Iversen met with the Prof. Hannah McGee, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and heads of programmes in Pharmacy, Physiotherapy Nursing and Physician Associate. She also met with Dr Sarah O’Neill, Director of the Research Summer School and Dr Avril Hutch, Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
