Clinical Research Officer – Ethics

Title: Clinical Research Officer – Ethics
Department: SFI FutureNeuro Centre, Physiology and Medical Physics, RCSI
Tenure: Specified Purpose Contract; 10 months part-time (0.5 FTE)
Salary: Up to Point 3 of Post-Doctoral Scale depending on prior experience
Location: 123 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2
Start Date: As soon as possible
 
About the post:
The successful candidate will join the dynamic FutureNeuro Operations team, based in RCSI, which supports the spectrum of research including lab-based discovery projects to clinical studies involving industry partners.  The role will support the oversight of all ethics submissions and the coordination and writing of ethics applications (animal & human) for submission to RCSI ethics board and hospital partner ethics boards required for new and ongoing FutureNeuro projects.
 
Specific duties:
  • Map ethics documentation associated with all relevant FutureNeuro studies
  • Prepare ethics applications for new FutureNeuro studies
  • Manage submission and revision of ethics applications
  • Conduct and maintain DPIAs
  • Prepare HRCDC applications
  • Manage/map consent documentation for ongoing FutureNeuro studies
  • Coordinate with FutureNeuro clinical recruitment staff and RCSI biobanking service on all of above
  • Coordinate with RCSI’s Office of Research & Innovation on data sharing agreements
  • Establish and manage governance groups for biobanks and bioresources associated with FutureNeuro
  • Coordinate with public patient involvement (PPI) officer(s) on PPI input to governance.
Qualifications required:
  • Ideally a PhD/BSc in health sciences
  • Experience of health research environment highly preferred
  • Familiarity with Irish Clinical Research Environment
  • Experience in writing ethics applications/scientific papers highly preferred
  • Knowledge of current national ethics procedures and protocols viewed highly
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to produce results and prioritise tasks
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience of collaboration across a multidisciplinary team, preferably including scientists and clinicians.
