Job Title: Physiotherapy Practice Tutor 0.5 FTE RCSI with Children’s Health Ireland
Location: Senior Physiotherapist with Children’s Health Ireland Temple Street
Reporting To: Head of RCSI School of Physiotherapy and the Physiotherapy Manager of the placement site for clinical and operational governance.

Location: Off campus. The Tutor will be based in relevant clinical site(s) as determined by student placement requirements. Post may be based intermittently in the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) as determined by educational/service needs.
Contract Type: Specified purpose, 0.5 WTE
Objective:
· To participate in the development, teaching and examining of the physiotherapy practice education programme.
We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates for a Practice Education post in Physiotherapy. You will join progressive and professional placement provider teams based in clinical sites primarily in Dublin, and also the RCSI teaching staff based in the St. Stephen’s Green campus.
Specifically the duties of this post will include:
- Participate in the clinical supervision of students. Supporting students’ progress during practice placement, at individual and group levels, including the provision of small-group tutorials, remote support and in person.
- Ensure that Practice Educators have necessary skills and competencies, information packs, assessment tools, curriculum information etc.
- Work with students during their placements e.g. orientation, co-ordination of clinical & non clinical learning opportunities.
- Provide advice, support and assistance to the Practice Educator in the assessment of student performance in collaboration with relevant university staff where indicated
- Participate in the assessment of student performance in collaboration with Practice Educator(s)
- To provide tutorial support and facilitate shared learning experiences for students while on practice education placements.
- Contribute to the teaching of specific practice education modules for students at the university prior to their commencement of practice education.
- Contribute to the development and promotion of multi-professional working in the delivery of patient care for the benefit of patients.
- Ensure student learning contracts/placement objectives are agreed at the start of each placement, in conjunction with the Practice Educator(s).
- Contribute to ongoing feedback to students about their performance, in conjunction with the Practice Educator(s).
- Contribute to and attend practice education workshops and training days and any relevant committees organised by the university.
- Promote inter-professional learning across disciplines in the health care setting.
- Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety, Ensuring that all Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and CHI policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Undergo programmes of training and development as may be required.
- Representing the best interests of the School of Physiotherapy/RCSI at all times
- Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time.
- Facilitate effective communication and working relationships between clinicians, therapists and university staff in service delivery.
- Contribute to the development of research ideas and the conduct of relevant clinical and/or educational research.
- Ensure professional clinical service and positive student learning experience
