Remuneration: Up to IUA level PD2.2 (salary commensurate with experience & qualifications) €50,189 euro pro rata

Summary of Post
An opportunity has arisen for a 6-month Post-Doctoral position within the new School of Population Health, RCSI. We have a new project funded by NOVARTIS entitled ‘Prioritising Action on Persistent and Emerging Missed   Opportunities in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention in Ireland’ which will commence shortly. The project is led by Prof Ed Gregg, Head of School and will implement three interconnected phases;
Phase 1 – Research  Interview stakeholders around emerging issues and special populations for cardiovascular disease prevention. Literature review assessing the implementation of CVD policies in Ireland and conducting a gap analysis of the same.
Phase 2 – Workshop SeriesHost 3 workshops of interactive presentations and discussions on current and emerging issues in population-based cardiovascular disease prevention. These workshops will include a host of diverse stakeholders, including academia, industry, policy and patients/patient representatives.
  1. Each workshop will focus on one of the following three themes:
  2. Emerging issues and special populations that constitute missed opportunities and Inequalities risk and care management;
  3. Data infrastructure for population burden and assessment of real world effectiveness;
  4. New opportunities in digital health and lifestyle medicine for risk reduction.
Phase 3- Report
Lead the development of a preliminary consensus report, including essential literature synthesis to provide status report and contextual data to guide the 3 topics above, of the status and direction of cardiovascular risk among vulnerable groups in Ireland. 
Specific duties:
  • Contribute to the project and co-ordinate activities/deliverables as described above.
  • Co-ordination of own day-to-day work to support the project
  • Liaising with the Principal Investigator, colleagues and stakeholders on matters relating to the work as described above.
  • Facilitating communication and dissemination of information as required, including workshops, presentations, reports etc.
  • Undertaking duties assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her nominee in support of the projects
Qualifications – (Essential):
  • PhD degree or equivalent in health services research or a related discipline.
