Surgical Affairs and IT go paperless

At the end of October, Surgical Affairs & IT went live with a joint project upgrading its ‘Online Core Surgical Training Online Application’ system. This new application process is another step in the move to Surgical Affairs going paper less and has many advantages for the applicant and the staff within the department.

  • The application process is now 100% paperless and works with multiple browsers and across multiple devices i.e. tablet, mobile
  • The time and effort to process applications has been reduced by >300%
  • Applicants can not only apply online to the core surgical training programme but all their supporting documentation will also now be uploaded electronically
  • The system automatically generates a single user identify that the applicant will now use through all the interaction with RCSI
  • In built controls ensures the quality of applications and that only qualified applicants can submit an application
  • Applicants have access to a progress checklist allowing them to monitor and address outstanding actions against their applications
  • References are requested and submitted electronically through the portal
