Delayed Publication

An application may be made to delay the publication of certain communications with public representatives or bodies if the information returned will have an adverse effect on:

  1. the financial interests of the State;
  2. the national economy;
  3. business interests generally

An application to delay publication can also be made if the subject matter of the lobbying could:

4. cause financial loss to a person or compromise their competitive position

When a delayed publication is applied for, SIPO will make the decision on whether or not to grant the extended publication. The decision will be made within 21 days of application.
