Purpose of the Research Strategy Committee

To enhance RCSI’s international competitiveness, reputation and recognition as a research-intensive university, through strategic planning, growth and development of RCSI research activities.

Membership
Post-holder positions:
• Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation (Chair)
• Deputy Director for Research- Translational
• Deputy Director for Research- Clinical
• Head of Innovation
• Head of Strategic Initiatives & Industry Partnerships
• Head of School of Postgraduate Studies or nominee
• Associate Director of Research
• Director of International Engagement & External Relations or nominee

Fixed-term representation from specific areas highlighted in the RCSI Strategic Plan*:
• Biomaterials & regenerative medicine
• Cardiovascular biology
• Cancer
• Population health & health services research
• Neurological & psychiatric disorders
• Surgical science & practice

RCSI clinical sites with significant research activity:
• Beaumont Hospital
• Rotunda Hospital
• Children’s Health Ireland
• Mater Private Hospital

*Fixed-term RSC membership is through invitation by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation for an initial period of 2 years. Specific clusters and clinical sites may be removed or replaced due to reconfiguration of RCSI research priorities.

RSC Chair may invite other persons to attend meetings as required including representatives from Finance and HR depending on the meeting agenda.
