Who will be my supervisor?
If an award is listed with no specific project attached, it is up to the student to approach a suitable researcher who will act as your supervisor. You can get inspiration from our researcher database or from your lecturers. Once a supervisor has made an offer of appointment, the student together with his/her supervisor should complete the application form to rss@rcsi.ie before the closing date.
You may also want to follow the following advice: decide what area you want to work in or what staff member you want to work with, and then approach the appropriate researcher for advice.
Do I need to put in a supervisors name for the listed specific projects?
Yes – supervisor support is required.
What should I do if I have not received an e-mail confirmation that my application has been submitted successfully?
Please contact rss@rcsi.ie to let them know that you tried to submit an application but have not got the confirmation e-mail. You will receive a reply as soon as possible.
What if I cannot get my application in on time?
Late applications will not be accepted.
When can I start my project?
Once an award has been decided and a supervisor assigned, the student and the supervisor should decide together on a definite start date for the project. Start and finish dates should be arranged ideally between June and August. The studentship will run for 8 weeks. It is important that the student notify the Research Office at researchadministration@rcsi.ie with their project dates.
How will I get paid?
The award is paid directly into the bank account nominated by the student by the RCSI Salary department.
If you have a question and the answer is not listed here please email your request to researchadministration@rcsi.ie
