Boulos Hanna

Studentships are offered each Summer from 1998 to undergraduate students of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). The aim of these studentships is to improve our understanding of psychosocial aspects of healthcare and to do this in a manner that promotes interest in these issues at a formative stage in undergraduate health professional training. The studentships will provide students with a first-hand opportunity to investigate aspects of healthcare and its delivery. The studentships are dedicated to the memory of Mr Boulos Hanna, former consultant surgeon at Cavan General Hospital.

Students will work on a particular project in a multidisciplinary research context at the Health Services Research Centre, part of the Department of Psychology (Division of Population Health Sciences), RCSI. Findings from the projects will be presented by students for the College’s annual research day in the following Spring and will be submitted for publication where suitable.

Two studentships are available by open competition among all undergraduate RCSI students. Students will be funded to work for 8 weeks at €250 student grant weekly during the Summer period, based in the St Stephen’s Green Campus, RCSI and in BeaumontHospital.
