This session is designed to give an overview of safety and chemical awareness to staff or others working in laboratories.
This course will outline RCSI management and staff duties under current safety legislation whilst aiming to provide a clear understanding of chemical and biological agents, their hazards and effects on the body.
The session will provide staff with an understanding of RCSI policy regarding chemical labels and the role of safety data sheets (SDS) and how to use chemical spill kits.
Finally, a brief overview is given on how to spot hazards in a laboratory and complete a risk assessment.
