RCSI Internet Usage Policy

The RCSI Internet Usage policy is in place to provide guidance on the appropriate and acceptable use of internet access in RCSI.

Overview

Access to the Internet is provided for research, teaching, learning and other legitimate College related activities. Incidental and personal use of the Web is permitted as long as such use does not disrupt or distract the individual from College business (due to volume, frequency or time expended), does not incur unreasonable cost to the College, and/or does not restrict the use of those systems to other legitimate users.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to define standards for systems that monitor and limit web use from any host within the RCSI network. These standards are designed to ensure employees use the internet in a safe and responsible manner, and ensure that employee web use can be monitored or researched during an incident.

This policy applies to all staff and third parties (appointed and approved by RCSI) that require access to the internet to carry out day to day activities.

This document is available for review for all to understand their roles and responsibilities in the implementation and compliance with this policy.
