Five Pillars of TEL activity at RCSI. The vision is to integrate the use of TEL in all aspects of teaching, learning, and research across five areas of activity.

What we do

We aim to empower staff & students to use TEL effectively in their daily academic activities. HPEC is committed to the development of a digital teaching and learning environment that supports the RCSI teaching and learning experience, in line with the RCSI mission to be recognised internationally as a leading centre for professional education, research, and innovation in healthcare.

  1. Develop and support a digitally-rich teaching and learning ecosystem to connect educators and students in their daily practice, and increase the level and quality of digital competencies
  2. Cultivate best practice approaches to TEL and empower faculty to embrace new pedagogies and technologies
  3. Focus on a learner-centered approach that enhances their experience, equipping them for lifelong learning and digital competency
  4. Support initiatives that extend and enhance the effectiveness and reputation of the RCSI teaching and learning community
  5. Innovate and showcase RCSI in its use of TEL to support teaching, learning, and research

Working from a pedagogical perspective, we adopt a broad approach to using technology to support teaching and learning processes, design, and delivery. By collaborating with academic staff & our colleagues from TELCoP,  IT department, Library, COMPASS Student Services & Staff Learning & Professional Development to leverage our combined expertise and resources,
