A very important output from biomedical research is the discovery of a new drug. Once this was the sole domain of big pharma but more recently academic researchers are getting involved. However, it is a long and expensive process to take a molecule from bench to bedside with a very low success rate.
Dermot Cox has led a drug discovery group in both industry and academia and advises a number of pharma companies on drug discovery and development strategies. In this workshop we will discuss how to take an interesting molecule through the key milestones necessary to become a potential drug. This workshop will be of benefit to anybody who is working on a novel therapeutic or thinking of trying to discover one.
