Mindfulness for Managers

This introductory seminar invites Managers to explore mindfulness in the context of stress reduction and as a means of cultivating the ability to be focused, clear, creative and compassionate to self and to others. The seminar will focus on the importance of purpose, presence and relationships within the workplace and particularly within your role as a people manager.

Mindfulness is being used in many workplaces and in university settings by a wide variety of people working at all levels.  Mindfulness can help reduce workplace tensions and conflicts and improve communication, leadership and teamwork. To this end, participants will explore and practice a range of mindfulness and experiential exercises, reflecting on what we bring to the workplace and stopping to take stock of what really matters at work.

In this one-day seminar you will learn:

  • Practical coping skills to improve your ability to handle stressful situations
  • To stay in touch with the present moment and be less caught up in negative thought patterns
  • To develop more helpful responses to stress, anxiety and low mood
  • To use simple exercises and practices which can transform daily living
  • How the mind works and the evidence and benefits for practicing mindfulness

The seminar will consist of a balance of experiential and creative exercises, discussion, reflective practices and meditation.

Target Audience: Anyone with people management responsibilities
