This course is designed to give participants a solid understanding of the key principles of project management from inception to delivery. Participation in the course will give staff a common project management language / vocabulary as well as a common way of thinking about and approaching any projects they are involved in.
At the end of the course attendees will understand:
- The structure and stages of a project
- What exactly the project manager is required to do i.e. the roles and responsibilities of the project manager
- How project plans are prepared and implemented
- How to prioritise tasks and manage timelines
- The importance of keeping the project on track through strong risk and issue management
- How to review and monitor progress within timescales and budgets
- How to identify the needs of sponsors and stakeholders effectively
- How to correctly close down a project at completion
On completion of the course participants will be given a Project Management Toolkit with suggested documents and templates to help them apply what they have learned.
