Mindfulness for Academics

Mindfulness for Academics will provide an up to date introduction to research into mindfulness in the fields of health care, clinical and academic settings. The workshop will provide an opportunity to explore mindfulness practices in the context of stress reduction and how to integrate these practices into everyday life through awareness, balance and compassion.  

In this one-day session you will learn:

  • Practical coping skills to improve your ability to handle stressful situations
  • To stay in touch with the present moment and be less caught up in negative thought patterns
  • To develop more helpful responses to stress, anxiety and low mood
  • To use simple exercises and practices which can transform daily living
  • How the mind works and the evidence for and benefits of practicing mindfulness

The session will consist of a balance of experiential and creative exercises, discussion, reflective practices and meditation.

Target Audience: Any academic staff interested in an introduction to Mindfulness
